The Paramount Theater, Charlottesville

The Paramount Theater operated as a local movie theater from 1931 to 1974.  With an $18 million dollar renovation the theater was renovated and transformed into a live performing arts space, and is a major draw on the Charlottesville Downtown Mall.  Mr. Webster provided geotechnical engineering consultation during design and during the construction of the renovation work.  Based on the review of the soil and groundwater conditions, his work allowed the owner and the design team to make modifications of the renovated space to include an expanded below grade dressing room area with an alternate add on budget for other architectural improvements.  Foundation work included load testing, auger cast pile installation, and tiebacks.
